The Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, was conceived because of the need to service the rapidly growing but unserved areas of West Houston, Fort Bend County, and Katy, TX. The initial chartering discussion took place on May 6, 2021. The initial steering committee for this new chartering chapter included Tashi Hickman, Natashia Williams, Debra Luckett, and Stephanie Wilson. These four women stayed the course, compiled all the necessary research required by the feasibility study, completed all required documentation, and successfully recruited 11 more charter members to join this endeavor.

After one (1) year and four (4) months of hard work, long Zoom calls, and meetings until we were blue in the face, Delta Alpha Kappa Zeta was chartered on September 13, 2022, under the administration of 26th International Grand Basileus of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated, Dr. Stacie NC Grant. We were indeed her first charter as the newly elected International President. The Induction Ceremony was officiated on October 9, 2022, by Southern Region Director Rhetta Washington-McCoy and East Texas State Director Dr. Tunesia Benard. The Chapter Charter Celebration was held at The Roof Restaurant of Sugarland on November 4, 2022, with over 200 attendees from the Fort Bend community and the other Divine 9 Sororities and Fraternities.
